Conservation Genomics of the Endangered North Atlantic right whale

Sonya Radvan

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE/PROJECT MANAGER

Over the last few years I have had the opportunity to complete research in different areas including genetic analyses for marine mammal species and pre-clinical/clinical drug studies for human neuro-muscular diseases. However, my main area of interest lies in how the study of genetics and molecular biology can offer unknown insights into species at risk; and then how this knowledge can positively impact conservation efforts.

I am a research associate at the Frasier lab and for this project I will be assisting the other Frasier lab members in their research when needed, working to keep the North Atlantic right whale sample inventory and database organized and up to date, as well as helping to facilitate the social media and maintain the website. Starting in May 2024 I also took on the role of project manager, where I collaborate with every member of the team to keep the project running smoothly. I provide updates to the project funding bodies, oversee financial expenditures and budgets, and facilitate communication.
