Conservation genomics of the Endangered North Atlantic right whale

PH. D. CANDIDATE

I am part of the Frasier Lab at Saint Mary’s University, working as a PhD candidate. My background is Fisheries Science; however, my real research passion is the biology and ecology of whales having used stable isotope analysis to infer movement and trophic niche in four species of rorqual whale for my Masters. It is important that the research I do can be applied to real world conservation issues and I am currently looking at the epigenetic effects of vessel strike and entanglement in fishing gear on North Atlantic right whale health, reproduction, and fitness at an individual and population level via DNA Methylation analysis.
