Conservation genomics of the Endangered North Atlantic right whale

Masters Candidate, Dalhousie University
I am a Master of Marine Management student in the Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University. I am originally from Niagara, Ontario and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from Dalhousie in 2024.
My primary focus in my graduate work is on the science-policy interface and its role in the recovery of the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. I’m analyzing how scientific contributions, specifically those from the North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium (NARWC), align with the recovery objectives outlined in legislative frameworks such as the Canadian Species at Risk Act (SARA) and the U.S. Endangered Species Act (ESA). This reseach addresses the gap between scientific knowledge and its application in policy, which may be impacting species recovery.
